Oncor provides incentives to service providers who install photovoltaic systems on homes with energy storage back up in Oncor’s service area. The incentives help offset the initial investment cost to help customers, like you, see a faster return. Oncor's programs typically run from January through November on an annual basis.
Homes must have Oncor as their electric delivery provider. Only homeowners may participate. New home construction projects are not eligible.
The incentives for residential solar photovoltaic systems are dependent on the size, azimuth and other factors of your installed system. Homeowners will need to install solar photovoltaic systems with an energy storage back up system to qualify for incentives. Your service provider will help calculate incentives for the system. You can contact your retail electric provider for information about any credit you could qualify for based on any excess generation that your system may produce.
The solar photovoltaic system must meet the following requirements:
1. Who gets the incentive?
The solar installers (us) will receive the incentive from the utility. This allows us to offset the cost of installation, lowering your investment cost.
2. Will the installer be responsible for giving me the incentive?
The solar installer will have an agreement with the customer of how much of the Oncor incentive will be given to the customer.
3. How do I know how much I get?
We have an incentive estimation calculator to give you an estimated amount based on what you plan on installing. We will be able to view your potential incentive and communicate it to you. Oncor does not communicate incentive amounts directly with customers.
4. How are my incentives calculated?
The number of incentives offered is dependent on factors such as the azimuth, tilt, geographical location, inverter wattage, panel wattage, shade and more.
5. Are the Oncor incentives the same as the federal tax credits?
No, the federal tax credit is different from the Oncor incentive.
6. Do I get additional incentives for installing Battery with solar PV?
No. Battery installation serves as a necessary requirement to qualify for solar PV incentives. A customer can only get Oncor’s residential solar incentives if the customer installs both Solar PV and battery system at the same time.
7. If I already have a solar PV system installed, can I add a battery system to qualify for Oncor’s Solar residential incentives?
No. Both the solar PV and battery system must be newly installed to qualify for Oncor’s residential solar incentives.
8. Is system size the system size of the solar PV system plus the battery system?
No, in this program, system size considers only the system size of the solar PV system.
WHAT IF THE SYSTEM IS FOR A COMMERCIAL PROPERTY?
1. Does my system qualify if it is larger than the max eligibility system size?
We would have to submit a portion of your entire system size that qualifies (under the max system size limit) and let the Program Manager know that there is more installed that does not qualify to prevent confusing the inspection team.
2. Does the Energy Storage qualifier affect the Commercial Solar Program?
No, the Commercial solar program does not require the energy storage qualifier to qualify for Oncor’s commercial solar incentives.
